Want a strong, lasting classic knife that strikes well on a fire-steel and that won't break the bank? Here it is!The Frosts Traditional "Mora original #1 Carbon Blade knife is 'the other' classic Mora knife - recognised the world over for its strength, durability and craftsmanship and hugely popular as a good all-round, starter bushcraft knife - that said, because of the carbon blade which, will create a veritable shower of hot sparks when used with a fire-steel, an awful lot of bushcraft regulars still rely on this very fine knife on a daily basis or as a back-up. This simple knife will do everything a knife of two or three times its price could do - and more. The Mora Classic # 1 Carbon has a high-carbon blade of approximatley 3-3/4" (95 mm) and is just shy of 8 inches (200 mm) in overall length. The classic birch-wood handle is sealed by being finished in traditional red paint, defining this traditional Swedish style knife; the handle itself is slightly 'fatter' than the Laminated Blade #1 making it pleasant to work with and very well balanced. The sheath is formed from black plastic and is dish-washer proof.
Scandinavian forest axes need no introduction......but one with a plastic handle? We werent convinced either, then Mora showed us how the Camp-Axe is made; the blade tang goes deep into the handle, the non-slip plastic handle is dish-washer proof and so can be thoroughly cleaned after extended use or carcass work. We have used these axes extensively in the field and find them to be strong and faultless; sure, a traditional wooden handled axe may look nicer, but for all practical purposes, the Mora Camp Axe is a fantastic cost-effective choice. The blade is phenomenally sharp out of the box and holds an edge well through use - an EZE-Lap oval-EZE Fold (591), or double sided stone is all you need to maintain a razor sharp edge.
