Snow and Nealley

The finest Bushcraft Axes you can buy!

We are very proud to have been appointed UK Distributor for Snow and Nealley products.

In 1864 Charles Snow and Edward Nealley opened a chandlery shop, based on the banks of the river Penobscot, in Mainer - the ideal position from which to supply the then growing demand for the highest quality tools to the thriving logging industry. Today the same business with exactly the same uncompromising attitude to quality and service continues; now owned by the Hutchins family, who are fiercely proud of the company's place in history and still producing the highest quality tools for the Great Outdoors.

A Snow and Nealley axe is the axe you always knew you'd one-day own! Tried, tested and trusted by North American woodsmen for over a century and still to be found in any serious Outdoorsman's pack!

Although sharp, Snow and Nealley axes are not necessarily 'razor' edged (and so likely to chip in transit) from new, they are not artistically 'marketed', and they don't come with a nice book about axes.....they are simply purposefully made from a combination of the highest quality base materials. Each axe is individually hardened in Snow and Nealley's fires to provide the correct tempering and strength; the handles are of ergonomically shaped, correctly cut and seasoned American hickory (still the best axe-handle material) so, your Snow and Nealley axe will be by your side for years to come.

Snow and Nealley axes do not arrive in a nice wrapper with a over-sharpened edge; when you buy a Snow and Nealley axe it is assumed that you eiethr know how to edge and sharpen and axe peoperly or, you need to learn how to - a skill you're going to need anyway as, surprisingly to some, axes do not self-edge!

Designed as a 'starter axe' for the young outdoors enthusiast but, in fact the perfect lightweight bushcraft /trail or camping axe as it is lightweight and short so, will fit comfortably in or onto your pack. This axe features a 1-1/4 lb head on a 15" hickory handle.

Snow and Nealley - Penobscot Bay Kindling Axe

Snow and Nealley - Penobscot Bay Kindling Axe

Price: £57.00 (Including VAT at 17.5%)

Quantity:

This axe has been described as "a backpacker¹s delight". Small enough for carrying, yet big enough to cut firewood and kindling, this is a very 'grown-up' axe. Contrary to popular belief, this axe is an 'after-thought' design, it features the same 1-3/4 lb Hudson Bay axe head but on a shortened 18" hickory handle. Hence, this axe is a little more 'lumpy' in use but, when space and weight are issues, it's absolutely ideal. Also makes THE perfect kindling axe as the name suggests!

A genuine leather blade sheath is included to protect the edge - the head is hardened in Snow & Nealley's fires to provide extra strength to the axe.

This is one of those bush-tools you'll have at your side for years to come.

The original Bushcraft axe!

This is it....your search is at an end! THE perfect bushcraft axe...original and still the best.

Forget all the marketing hype, pretty booklets and finishing, this as axe was originally designed to be used by men such as trappers, hunters, and fishermen on early trail-blazing expeditions along the Hudson Bay. Folk whose lives literally depended on their tools and equipment; they didn’t care much for ‘pretty’ things but functionally their equipment had to be perfect and work properly.

The Hudson Bay axe remains unchanged and today, whether pounding in shelter stakes, felling a tree or cutting and splitting camp firewood , the Hudson Bay is still the favourite of outdoor enthusiasts everywhere around the world.

Featuring a 1 3/4lb head on a slender 24" American Hickory handle. A leather blade sheath is included to protect the edge.

This is the bushcraft axe you will one-day own!

The axe favoured by real experts....
