About Us

Red-Deer Outdoors Limited

Red-Deer was initially set up to provide experience opportunities and quality training to outdoor enthusiasts and especially those involved in: bushcraft, deer stalking, wild-camping, rough shooting, fishing, hill-walking and birding.

Bushcraft

In 2008 we are offering an extended range of outdoor experiences for all ages and levels of experience including a new Mountain-Craft Course. Bushcraft and foraging for wild foods are skills that help us all re-connect with the environment, and make us more acutely aware of the delicate balance of nature and our role in its preservation.  We call this ‘green cunning’ and it was traditionally passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth and example but sadly this is rarely the case now and such skill are in danger of fading way altogether.

Deer Stalking

Has anyone ever said to you “not many deer around here mate”….as he or she clomped by in heavy boots and rustling Gore-Tex cagoole?  It’s certainly happened to us and we wondered if there would be any interest from those (other than deer-stalkers) to actually learn how to get closer to the deer that are all around us.   In spring 2007 we are announced our Deer Stalking course (non-firearm). Presented by professional deer managers and stalkers this course covers all aspects of Deer-Stalking including, understanding deer ecology, their habits, their environment, deer signs, how to find and see deer, how to dress, how to move and approach deer. The course is aimed at would-be deer-stalkers wishing to improve their craft, photographers, artists and wild-life observers, anyone indeed who may wish to learn and understand how to track and get close to our beautiful wild deer.

Rifle-Skills

We’re running our renowned one-day Rifle-Skills courses at the British Sporting Rifle Club, NRA Bisley in Surrey again this year; we fine-tuned this course through 2007 and again we’ll be covering all aspects of rifle-skills needed by deer-stalkers who care about and appreciate the need for accuracy in all 'real-world' in-field situations. The course builds on basic good shooting principles, focuses on developing accuracy and confidence from all the various positions: simulated high seat, sitting, kneeling and standing. We look at the use of various shooting aides such as single, double and triple stick and discuss the merits of each in depth.
